When you look at her

Estimated reading time: 0 minutes, 40 seconds

I look at you
When you look at her
And the world fades away

Love, Tenderness
Longing, belonging
That look in your eye

Your heart in your eyes
Your soul in your smile
Forever on your mind

That look in your eye
From so long ago
From way back when

I remember
The first time
You saw her heart beating

I looked away from her
And looked at you
And the world faded away

That moment of joy
This lifetime of labor
This intermittent pain

How could we have known?
What would we have done?
But we would never change a thing

And that’s why I look at you
When you look at her
So the world can fade away

[can you guess what/who I am talking about? There are a few clues]

Have a picture of my parents looking at each other that reminds me of this–just themselves together in their world.

We could code the poem using this Index?
    Davis’ Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI)
    CITED: Frías-Navarro, D. (2009).

Nice 🙂 different than what I was talking about in the poem, but I like that you could interpret it that way 🙂 Looking at that article… Will take some time to figure out?

First, Happy Eid. Hope you are having a joyful and peaceful Eid with your family. 🙂
Second, I like the idea of the poem and I guess it revolves around your child, your husband’s feeling towards her and your feeling towards both of them.

    1. Maha Bali says:

Happy Eid to you, too, ya Sally, and you’re right! That’s exactly what it’s about 🙂

Your daughter and I knew the answer before I read the comments. Happy Eid

    1. Maha Bali says:

Shatra ya Fagr 🙂 I love you and you were on my mind a few days ago 🙂 Happy Eid to you, too!

  4. Nadine says:

How your husband looks/looked at your newborn daughter.
