About improving one’s Arabic. I believe it comes by choosing to read into more diverse topics. I myself find it hard to speak in that so called, Modern Standard Arabic. I hate that term by the way, and find it a westernized one. I can write in it, but when speaking it is always easier to speak in colloquial Arabic. But, anyway, I can see that the problem for you, me, and most of us, is problem of terminologies rather than a lingual problem. We are taught in English and tend to know the terms in the English form, and find their Arabic translations odd or missing. Which is, imho, not a personal problem, but it is a problem that needs more work to put scientific dictionary and help build Arabic glossaries for scientific and technical terms.
