Makes absolute sense to me, Michael but translated to my context it means something quite different (how does an American University develop Egyptian citizens at this time of turmoil and what does it mean to do so by teaching to write in English but not Arabic?). My Phd thesis has a whole chapter on developing critical thinking thru writing and there is an undercurrent of critical thinking for citizenship in the thesis and a lot of my later workk.
