Living near NYC, I feel the pain of 9/11 victims every year and I remember the innocent people whose lives were cut short by crazy people. It’s a solemn day when we should remember the victims and the heroic rescuers, but I think that we have come far enough to also make it a day of reflection about the effects of it in the world we live in. The thing is that bigoted people, especially whose lives were not affected by the event, have no right to “use” that tragedy to be awful and inhuman to others (who had nothing to do with the tragedy, other than irrelevant association). I don’t face the kind of discrimination you describe (because I look like an Indian computer scientist, and I wish so hard that no Indian computer scientist ever commits a crime) but I can relate to it in some ways. Wishing peace and wisdom to all–
