Exactly! I was thinking of my cMOOC experiences and how they influence my views for my daughter, even ho obviously cMOOCs are targeted at mature learners, autonomous enough to judge… But when we think about how kids learn naturally, it’s not what’s happening at school either.
The question i keep asking at this point is: can school end up being so damaging that we can’t recover? But it seems that many of us do recover, and school does have advantages (social life, if not socialization!) and ummmm … Sometimes they get inspiring teachers who help them learn and love learning. Sometimes that’s enough. I know some k-12 teachers from all over the world who are really inspiring. I teach some really inspiring public and private school teachers here in Egypt. I just hope enough of them come my daughter’s way….
