I don’t think it is even “more selfishness” as it is a sense of “self-care” being selfish – and sadly that is completely a societal thing. The expectation that mothers don’t need self-care is rather ridiculous. I have good friends with two young children, but they have learned, that if mommy isn’t happy/taken care of the she cannot be a good caregiver for the children. Sort of like on the airplane when they say you need to put your mast on before helping others … you need to ensure you are taken care of so that you can be an awesome mother … and it isn’t at all selfish …
