Thank you for sharing this, Maha. I think it’s so important that we hear different and diverse voices from different people interpreting the Quran, or indeed any text. I mean, we kinda take that for granted nowadays with regard to texts, right? The text of the Quran may be eternal and inspired, but its interpretation continues to evolve, as it must and should. We can heed and respect past interpretations and interpreters without believing that they’ve figured out all the answers we need already. We can believe most of what those past interpreters have said and also disagree with them on certain points, particularly things about which thinkers of our own time have mad significant and compelling new arguments. Sexuality is definitely one of those things.
