Something else that comes to mind – there are different meanings for the word “own.” “Ownership” is not the only way to define it. It can also be used as “an intensifier to indicate oneself as the sole agent of some activity or action, preceded by a possessive” such as “He insists on being his own doctor.” That is kind of how I have always looked at “own” in “Domain of One’s Own.” If it meant “ownership,” the proper way to phrase it would be “Domain That One Owns” or DTOO.
